Release & Unwind Retreat Banner

2020 is a year like unlike any other for all of us. It asks us to grow into unknown strength, to surrender our illusion of control and to release more and more of what we took for granted.

Gift yourself a time out and a unique opportunity to let go of this unique year. In the stunning surrounding of Quarantine Island, you will have opportunities to find peace, closure, and a powerful outlook into the new year ahead.

We’ll spend one night at the St. Martin Lodge on Quarantine Island, located right in the Otago Harbour. Accommodation is bunk-style beds, in a shared room. You’ll need to bring your own sleeping bag, pillow, and sheet. The lodge also includes a dining room, a cozy living/meditation room, and composting toilet facilities/bathroom. While the accommodation is rather simple, it makes this retreat so affordable. Learn more about our stay on Quarantine Island here.

The retreat includes four full meals, lunch and dinner on Saturday, breakfast and lunch on Sunday. All meals are completely plant-based. Please let us know if you have any further dietary restrictions (gluten-free etc.) and we’re happy to arrange additional options for you. The meals will be grounding and nourishing, supporting you in your journey.

After taking the ferry at 9am (exact time tbc) from Back Beach and settling into the island, we’ll start our retreat with an opening ceremony and an embodiment workshop, followed by lunch and an opportunity to explore the island. In the afternoon, we’ll use the practice of Yin Yoga to slow down and explore stillness and discomfort. After dinner, we’ll conclude the first day with a heart-opening Kirtan. On Sunday, we’ll start with an energizing Slow Flow yoga practice, followed by a nourishing breakfast. Before lunch and our closing circle, we’ll have time for one last workshop to craft an intention for the upcoming year. The return ferry will leave the island on Sunday, around 4pm (exact time tbc). You’ll be emailed the final schedule a few weeks before the retreat. Please bring your own yoga mat as well as a personal blanket, if possible.

The price for the retreat includes the return ferry from Port Chalmers. Once your booking is finalized you’ll be added to a private facebook group to have the opportunity to coordinate shared rides before the retreat.

``The retreat was great. It was my first yoga retreat and I wasn't sure what to expect but I felt like I really needed time away from my everyday life to reconnect with myself and try and figure some things out. With the everyday routines, you can get stuck in a rut and it's hard to even feel the desire to look inward. I really liked that the retreat offered such a variety of things, like yoga and sound healing that helped break us open and connect with ourselves. I was out of my comfort zone at times but it still felt like a safe space to be out of my comfort zone. The setting and the effort that was put into decorating the space made it special, too. And it was great to be fed so well. I would love to eat more vegan, but my vegan cooking always doesn't taste as nice as what you made. So well done!``
